Oliver R. Sockwell has been appointed senior vice president for marketing of the Student Loan Marketing Association (Sallie Mae). He has also been named chairman of Sallie Mae's operations management committee and is responsible for managing the marketing department. Sockwell joined Sallie Mae in 1974. He is a native of Washington and graduated from Howard University and Columbia Graduate School of Business. Sallie Mae has also appointed J. Bradford Haley as treasurer and Mitchell A. Johnson as assistant vice president.
Clayton Keel has been elected executive vice president and treasurer of National Permanent Federal Savings and Loan Association. S. Jeffery Baxter and Wendelin W. Marcellino have been appointed vice presidents and Barbara M. Samuels and Thomas C. Kane have been appointed branch managers.
Robert L. Morrison has been appointed to the 1983 Committee on Federal Supervisory Regulations of the U.S. League of Savings Institutions. W. Clifton Williams has been appointed to the league's 1983 Consumer Lending Committee. Morrison is president and chairman of the board of Suburban Federal Savings and Loan Association in Landover Hills, Md. Williams is secondary marketing officer of Equitable Savings and Loan Association.
Ernest L. Tressler has been named vice president and manager of Continental Federal Savings and Loan Association's commercial lending department. Tressler was formerly a vice president for commercial loans of First American Bank of Virginia.
Laurence W. Levine has been named a member of the board of directors of Security National Corp., the holding company of Washington's Security National Bank. Levine is a partner of the New York law firm of Walsh and Levine.
Joseph Wolinsky, Henry B. Keiser, Mitchell S. Cutler and James O. Gibson have been named to the board of directors of the National Bank of Commerce. Wolinsky is president of Sky Courier Network Inc. of Reston. Keiser is a lawyer in Washington and president and chairman of the board of Federal Publications and chairman of the board of Crown Eagle Communications and Gene Galasso Associates Inc. Cutler is a partner in the law firm of Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Heine, Underberg & Casey in Washington. Gibson is president of the Eugene & Agnes F. Meyer Foundation and was formerly assistant city administrator of Washington.
