Construction has begun on Ris Paper Co.'s new Washington division headquarters and warehouse building at the Hampton Business Park in Largo. The $2.5 million one-story facility will contain 52,000 square feet of warehouse capacity and 6,000 square feet of office space.
The Garden City, N.Y.-based paper distributors have operated in the Washington area since 1972. They are presently located at 804 First Ave. SE. The company has about 100 employes in the Washington division, which covers Baltimore and Richmond.
The building, to be located at 9101 E. Hampton Dr., was designed by Stephens Associates of Cheverly. Construction is being done by College Park Contracting Inc., with completion scheduled for sometime during the fall of this year.
Other developments in commercial realty in the Washington metropolitan area:
* Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Co. is relocating and has leased 4,928 square feet of space at 1655 N. Fort Myer Dr. in Arlington.
* Decision Data Computer Corp. has leased 3,381 square feet of space at the Metroplex I building at 8401 Corporate Dr. in Landover.
* ITE Electrical Products Division has leased 2,167 square feet of space for sales offices at the Metroplex II building at 8201 Corporate Dr.
