Grand opening ceremonies will be held July 11 for the District's new One-Stop Business and Permit Center at 614 H St. NW. The center, which has been in operation since April, is designed to streamline the process of obtaining licenses and permits from the city government. Several trips to different government offices were previously necessary to obtain one license or permit, said spokesman Joyce McCray.

The center, which is operated by the D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, is located on the first two floors of the H Street location. The first floor will handle 118 types of business licenses. Registration for tax compliance, employer obligation or corporate or partnership status for business licenses will be processed at the center by representatives of the Department of Finance and Revenue and the DCRA corporate division.

On the center's second floor, permits for construction, zoning, use of public space and other permits will be issued. Applications and construction drawings also will be reviewed there.

Licenses not available at the center include those for occupational, insurance, alcoholic beverage or health care facilities. However, information on obtaining these licenses is available at the center.

The center's weekday operating hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information, call 727-7000.
