Lloyd O. Hoffman Jr. has been named president of the Washington division of Ris Paper Co. Inc., a company that distributes to manufacturers and sells print and publishing paper.

Hoffman joined Ris in 1971 as vice president of the Washington division. He was named executive vice president and general manager of the division in 1975. Hoffman was formerly with the Garrett Buchanan Paper Co. of Philadelphia for one year and Nationwide Paper Co. of Stamford, Conn., for 18 years.

Since its establishment in 1971, Ris said, the Washington division's profits have increased sevenfold and it has grown from the third-smallest area paper distributor to the third-largest. The division had $38 million in sales last year, Hoffman said.

The Ris Washington division is building a $2.5 million headquarters in Largo that is scheduled to be completed in late November. The division's offices currently are located at 804 First St. SE.

Ris Paper Co.'s corporate headquarters are located in Garden City, N.Y. In addition to Washington, the company operates New England, Philadephia and New York divisions, each with branch offices. Washington division branch offices are located in Baltimore and Richmond.

The Washington division got its start in this area with Ris' acquisition of three area paper companies during the 1970s.

The company also announced the appointments of Connor W. Bohan as Washington branch manager and William M. Clark Jr. as Washington sales manager.

Bohan was formerly sales manager of the Washington division. He joined Ris in 1972. Clark was formerly a sales representative.
