Mid-Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Inc., the fourth largest Coca-Cola franchise in the country, has appointed Terry S. Pemberton president and chief operating officer. Pemberton, 48, has been vice president for sales, vice president for marketing and, most recently, senior vice president of the Silver Spring-based company. During his 25 years in the industry, Coca-Cola said, Pemberton has worked in production, sales and marketing for Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola and Royal Crown Cola.

The directors of Fairchild Industries Inc. have elected Larry F. Myer controller of the Germantown-based manufacturer. Myers, formerly vice president at Fairchild Burns Co., a Winston-Salem division that produces airline seating, succeeds James P. Allen, who has become executive vice president at Fairchild Communications & Electronics Co.

Duron Inc. has appointed Alan M. Sandler as marketing manager and Patricia J. Dunn to advertising production coordinator of the Beltsville-based paint manufacturing and retailing firm. Sandler was previously advertising and sales promotion manager for the Maryland Cup Corp. Dunn had been an account executive for a Washington advertising agency.

Whitehall Corp. has named Lyman H. Smith II director for international military marketing of its acoustic sensor manufacturing subsidiary, Seismic Engineering Co. Smith was formerly foreign liaison officer of the Naval War College.

Loral Electro-Optical Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Loral Corp. with offices in Arlington, has elected Ben F. Hord III to vice president for eastern operations.
