Amtrak, following a reorganization of its marketing and business development division, announced the following appointments: Robert E. Gall, formerly vice president for transportation marketing, to vice president for sales and advertising; Timothy P. Gardner, previously vice president for corporate planning and development, to vice president for market planning and development; William S. Smith, recently senior director of reservation sales, to assistant vice president for reservations sales and services; Brett M. Tyler, formerly senior director of marketing services, to assistant vice president for transportation marketing; M. Kathleen Hartz, previously director of program development, to senior director for marketing support; and Joan Wheatley, formerly manager of sales promotion, to assistant director of sales promotion.
Nicholas M. Brand, a former marketing manager for Amtrak's Northeast corridor, has been named vice president of the TGV Co., a Washington-based firm that is marketing the French TGV (Tre's Grande Vitesse -- very high speed) train in North America. Brand was most recently vice president of American High Speed Rail Corp., where he directed marketing, environmental and planning efforts.
USAir Group Inc. has named Roy A. Williams regional director of properties. A graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center, Williams was formerly an attorney in Salt Lake City.
Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad Co. has appointed William E. Griffin Jr. director of personnel and labor relations. A native of Petersburg, Va., Griffin formerly was manager of employe relations. Also, Ted R. Metzger, who had been budget manager, was promoted to assistant treasurer.
