James H. McIlhenny, president and chief executive officer of U.S. News & World Report for four years until its sale in October, has been named president of Diversified Printing Corp., the Pennsylvania-based printing subsidiary of Parade Publications Inc. In addition to Parade magazine, DPC also prints Family Weekly and the magazines of several newspapers, including The Washington Post.

Apple Computer's John Sculley has been nominated to fill a vacancy on the board of directors of Communications Satellite Corp. Sculley has been president and chief executive officer of the personal computer manufacturer since 1983. He would replace William L. Zimmer III, who is retiring.

American Satellite Co., a partnership between Fairchild Industries Inc. and Continental Telecom Inc., has appointed Julian E. Wakefield Jr. to vice president of engineering. Previously, Wakefield was an engineering manager for RCA's communications satellite program.

John Tollefson, director of engineering for WJLA-TV Inc. since 1982, has been named a vice president.

William J. Goodman, recently retired from AT&T Information Systems, has formed International Products Telemarketing Inc., a firm specializing in telephone sales methods, training and management. Goodman was a Maryland state delegate and senator from 1962 to 1974.

Best-Met Publishing Co. Inc. has named James R. Roberts editor of Food World, a monthly newspaper covering the food industry from Virginia through southern Pennsylvania. He was formerly an editor with The Wall Street Journal.

The Kamber Group, a Washington public relations firm, has announced these appointments: Mary Roddy-Betzler has returned to the firm as vice president after a year with Wayne Newton's Flying Eagle Inc. Betsy Geddes also rejoined the firm as direct mail manager. Chico Arnaldo-Guizar, a film editor for 10 years, has joined the firm as editorial and technical director.

Judson Vaughn, previously marketing communications manager with MCI Mail, has been named copy director at the public relations firm KSK Communications Ltd.

Morgan Burchette Associates Inc., an advertising and public relations firm in Alexandria, has named Sheila Wexler vice president and director of marketing and Rochelle Taccino-Gray art director.
