Alan W. Larson, executive vice president for the western hemisphere at The Black & Decker Manufacturing Corp., has been appointed to the board of directors of First Maryland Bancorp., the parent company of the First National Bank of Maryland.

In a management reorganization at Roanoke-based Dominion Bankshares Corp., Joseph A. Malone, chairman and president of Dominion Bank of Northern Virginia, was elected to the additional post of corporate executive officer of the $4.2 billion bank-holding company. Malone and the heads of Dominion's other four principal affiliate banks will join six senior corporate officers on the company's highest management council.

Bankers Finance Investment Management Corp., adviser to the Government Investors Trust group of mutual funds, has named Charles J. Tennes vice president and director of marketing. He was formerly marketing vice president for Ferris & Co., a Washington brokerage firm.

The Tysons Corner office of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner, and Smith Inc. has elected vice presidents of the firm: John R. da Camara, Constance F. Drapeau, James P. Pappas, George T. Vickery and Herbert D. Vogel Jr.

Community Bank & Trust Co. of Virginia has appointed Joseph Schellhorn, previously senior vice president for lending and a former vice president with NS&T Bank, to president of the two-year-old Sterling, Va., bank.
