The Student Loan Marketing Association, a federally chartered corporation that invests in education loans, has recruited Suzanne J. Peck to head its computerized loan servicing operations. As senior vice president, servicing and systems division, Peck will have responsibility for Sallie Mae's loan processing centers in Herndon and Lawrence, Kan. She was previously a vice president at Bankers Trust Co., and a director for industry operations at Honeywell Information Systems.
Citizens Savings Financial Network said that Robert M. Henry has been promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer. He joined Citizens last year as vice president and treasurer. Additionally, John W. Smolenski, a former regional vice president for First American Bank, has been appointed an officer in charge of business development for Citizens Savings & Loan Association Inc.
Richmond-based United Virginia Bank announced two promotions in its Alexandria office: Laura J. Lawler, most recently with the bank's commercial group, will become senior vice president for loan administration. Michael A. Hart, assistant vice president for loan administration, will succeed Lawler as vice president in the commercial group. Separately, J. Carter Fox, president and chief executive officer of Chesapeake Corp., was elected a director of United Virginia Bankshares Inc., the bank's holding company. A board vacancy was created when Sture Olson, Chesapeake Corp. chairman, retired from the UVB board July 1.
