An article in Washington Business Monday incorrectly reported that a commercial for Meritor Savings Bank did not appear on local television stations. It did so in June and July. (Published 3/4/88)

Adworks Inc., the Washington advertising agency that created a television campaign for Meritor Savings Bank, won the Best of Show award Saturday when the Advertising Club of Metropolitan Washington announced the winners of its 20th annual ADDY Awards.

David B. Abramson, president of Abramson Associates Inc., received the Silver Medal award for outstanding contributions to his company, profession and community.

More than 950 entries were submitted in 18 advertising categories for the regional awards. The entries had to be created in the Washington area. Winners were chosen by a panel of advertising professionals.

The ADDY Award winners included:

Ketchum Communications for "Ten Million Women," a black and white consumer magazine ad for Columbia Hospital for Women.

Abramson Associates Inc. for "Private Jets," a two-color consumer magazine ad for Erkiletian Construction Co.

ADWORKS Inc. for "Samplings," in the category of a black and white or color consumer magazine ad, for Samplings Restaurant.

Goldberg/Marchesano and Associates Inc. for "Table of Contents," "Beddy Bye," and "Get Lit for Less," an advertising campaign for IKEA.

Rosenthal, Greene & Campbell for "No Slogan -- Fritzbe's," a local radio ad for Great American Restaurants -- Fritzbe's.

Goldberg/Marchesano and Associates Inc. for "Common Sense," a regional/national radio ad for IKEA.

Goldberg/Marchesano & Associates Inc. for the fall radio campaign for WFTY-TV, Channel 50.

Abramson Associates Inc. for "Going for the Tie," a television ad for under $10,000 for George and Company Big & Tall Men's Shops.

Adworks Inc. for "Slap," a local, unlimited budget television ad for Meritor Savings Bank. It was not shown in this area.

Ketchum Communications for the "Closet Teen" television ad for Bell of Pennsylvania in the more-than-one-market, unlimited budget category.
