Under Chapter 11 of the federal bankruptcy code, a company is protected from claims by creditors while it attempts to reorganize its finances under a plan approved by the court. In a Chapter 7 liquidation, a court trustee sells assets to pay creditors' claims. The company then ceases operations.

Clearbrook Farms Ltd. of P.O. Box 335, California, Md., filed for Chapter 11 reorganization May 22. The real estate firm listed assets as more than $1 million and liabilities as between $500,000 and $999,000.

Brookeville Development Partnership of 19501 Georgia Ave., Brookeville, Md., filed for Chapter 7 liquidation May 21. The real estate development firm listed assets and liabilities as each being more than $1 million.

Aladro Inc., doing business as Gala Jewelers, of 10433 Nolan Dr., Rockville, filed for Chapter 11 reorganization May 17. The retail jewelry firm listed assets of $90,000 and liabilities of $54,562.

Daymude Construction Corp. of 10301 Grosvenor Pl., Room 704, Rockville, filed for Chapter 7 liquidation. The construction firm listed assets of $65,000 and liabilities of $113,376.

Alexandria Division Eastern District of Virginia Concept Construction Service Inc. of 5512 Old Mill Rd., Alexandria, filed for Chapter 11 reorganization May 18. The firm, which remodels and renovates houses, listed assets of $60,000 and liabilities of $169,341.

Pal Construction Co. of 10231 Cedar Pond Dr., Vienna, filed for Chapter 7 liquidation May 21. The general contractor, which builds single-family houses, listed assets of $6,674 and liabilities of $157,478.70.

Ranleigh Development Corp. of 10231 Cedar Pond Dr., Vienna, filed for Chapter 7 liquidation May 21. The builder of single-family houses listed assets of $281.43 and liabilities of $159,977.47.

North England Run L.P. of 4151 Chain Bridge Rd., Fairfax, on May 22 filed for Chapter 11 reorganization. The real estate development firm listed both assets and liabilities as each being more than $1 million.
