Under Chapter 11 of the federal bankruptcy code, a company is protected from claims by creditors while it attempts to reorganize its finances under a plan approved by the court. In a Chapter 7 liquidation, a court trustee sells assets to pay creditors' claims. The company then ceases operations.
Rockville Court District of Maryland
Haney Paving Co. Inc. of 7500 Julia Terrace, Rockville, filed for Chapter 7 liquidation July 18. The paving contractor listed debts of $74,588.54 and property of $37,490.
Elevator Specialties Inc. of 7701 Preston Dr., Landover, filed for Chapter 11 reorganization July 17. The elevator refurbishing firm listed debts of $306,341.19 and property of $355,245.36.
Music Video Warehouse of 7910 Woodmont Ave., No. 1200, Bethesda, filed for Chapter 7 liquidation July 13. The store, which sells videocassettes, listed assets as between $50,000 and $99,000 and liabilities as between $500,000 and $999,000.
Rockville Mall Associates L.P. of 7315 Wisconsin Ave., Suite 450N, Bethesda, filed for Chapter 11 reorganization July 13. The shopping center, also known as Rockville Mall, listed $5,178,614.75 in unsecured claims.
C.V. Warehousing and Transporting Inc. of P.O. Box 120, Funkstown, Md., filed for Chapter 11 reorganization July 13. The transportation firm listed both assets and liabilities as being less than $50,000.
Alexandria Division Eastern District of Virginia
Elite Body Works Inc. of 9880 Main St., Fairfax, filed for Chapter 7 liquidation July 12. The tanning and fitness company listed no assets and liabilities of $68,000.
District of Columbia
Dubliners Inc., a tavern, and related management firms Coleman's Inc. and Lynios Inc., all of 4 F St. NW, filed for Chapter 11 organization July 16. Dubliners listed assets of $315,714 and liabilities of $468,743; Coleman's listed assets of $246,674 and liabilities of $600,617; and Lynios listed assets of $40,989 and liabilities of $160,350.
Q.F. Enterprises Inc. of 2635 Connecticut Ave. NW filed for Chapter 11 reorganization July 16. The firm listed assets at less than $50,000 and liabilities at between $50,000 and $99,000. -- Compiled by Robert Thomason
