Robert Diamond, a director of Arlington-based Allstate Financial Corp. bought 1,000 common shares Oct. 22 at $7 each. He holds 3,500 shares directly.
Alan D. Saver, an officer of Avemco Corp. of Frederick, Md., privately sold 4,000 common shares Nov. 12 at $21.13 each. He no longer holds any common stock.
Theo C. Rodgers, a director of Baltimore Bancorp. of Baltimore, bought 14,000 common shares at $4.75 to $4.88 each Nov. 9. Rodgers owns 2,508 shares directly and 33,208 shares indirectly.
William F. Gorog, a director of C&S/Sovran Corp. of Norfolk, bought 10,000 common shares at $17.54 each Oct. 25. Gorog owns 24,768 shares directly and 615 shares indirectly.
Andrew H. Hines Jr., a director, bought 3,000 common shares Oct. 19 at $18 each. Hines owns 1,000 shares directly and 3,000 shares indirectly.

Lucia P. Kittredge, a director of Community Bankshares Inc. of Petersburg, Va., bought 2,000 common shares at $3.25 each Oct. 30. He holds 3,391 shares directly and 1,000 shares indirectly.

Director Walter L. Phillips of First Virginia Banks Inc. of Falls Church bought 2,000 common shares at $17.88 each Nov. 8. Phillips holds 5,116 shares directly.
E. Cabell Brand, an affiliate, bought 1,000 common shares at $17 each Nov. 2 and holds 1,000 shares directly.

Bruce McNall, a director of Hollywood Park Realty Enterprises Inc. in Lanham, Md., bought 11,000 common shares at $32.38 each Oct. 22. He holds 36,300 shares directly.

Morton I. Funger, a director of James Madison Ltd. of Washington, bought 20,000 class A common shares Oct. 23 at $2 each. Funger owns 76,678 class A shares directly and 56,840 class A shares indirectly.
