Fairchild Corp. of Dulles said its loss widened to $12.7 million (50 cents a share) during its second fiscal quarter, ended March 31, from a loss of $7.6 million (30 cents) during the year-ago quarter.

Revenue for the motorcycle accessory vendor and aerospace distributor increased to $80.1 million from $16.8 million last year. The company said the increase in revenue was primarily due to the acquisition of Fairchild Sports.

For the six months ended March 31, the company lost $14.8 million (58 cents) compared with a loss of $13.4 million (53 cents) during the same period last year. Revenue increased to $124.3 million from $37.5 million last year.

Shares closed at $4.45, up 8 cents.

* Gladstone Capital Corp. of McLean earned $3.1 million (27 cents) on $4.4 million in revenue during its second fiscal quarter, ended March 31, compared with earnings of $2.9 million (36 cents) on $3.9 million in revenue during the same quarter last year.

During the six months ended March 31, the lender to small and medium-size businesses earned $6.1 million (41 cents) on $8.3 million, up from $5.3 million (60 cents) on $7.1 million during the same period last year.

Shares of Gladstone closed down 75 cents at $19.16.
