Telesis plans to hire 25 to 35 people over the next two months. Payal Tak, president and chief executive, talked with The Post's Andrea Caumont.

QWhat does your company do?

AWe're an information-technology services provider to the federal government and commercial industries. We specialize in turnkey help desk and call center solutions, records management, document management, software development and systems integration. We have network providers and integrators out in Iraq supporting the soldiers. Our customers are by and large the federal government, or companies in the commercial industry in support of federal contracts.

What do you think your employees would say were the best reasons for working at your company?

We're very employee centric. Every employee looks at our benefits. We have significant paid time off, better than the industry standard. We have performance awards, cash bonuses. We encourage everyone to bring in more qualified folks and we award referral bonuses. We also provide tuition assistance. I see it as a happy place to work.

Who owns your company?

I do. It's a private company.

What sense of stability can your company offer job candidates?

We were incorporated in the fall of 1998. We just celebrated our sixth birthday. I started the company by myself, and we are now 345 employees strong and growing. Not long ago, we won a massive prime contract valued at $150 million over five years for supporting the National Tracing Center for the Bureau of Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives at the Department of Justice. The contract was awarded through the HUBZone program. HUBZone was established in 1996 to infuse business dollars into historically underutilized business zones in order to create jobs in those zones. The zones are determined by the Census Bureau and the Small Business Association. The contract involves receiving documents, media conversion, scanning and database support. What are the demographics of your company?

We are 60 percent female and 55 percent minority company-wide. Within the eight-person management team, we are 60 percent female and 60 percent minority.

What positions do you have available and what level of expertise do you want?

We're looking for three to four systems administrators with eight to 10 years of experience and 10 to 15 help desk professionals with five to 10 years of experience. We also have 10 to 15 positions open in records management. Applicants should have five to six years of experience with microfilm, scanning equipment, cameras, microfiche development, data capturing and media conversion. All of these positions require secret or top-secret security clearances.
