Computer Systems Center Inc. (CSCI) plans to hire about five people in the next two months. Linda LaRoche, chief executive; Robin Sheedy, director of human resources; and Bud Kraft, senior vice president for technology operations, talked with The Post's Andrea Caumont.

QWhat does

your company do?

AKraft: CSCI is primarily a government contractor. Our business is exclusively with our Department of Defense customers. We provide honest brokers, who work in our customers' offices providing them with technical solutions to air and missile defense questions. We do everything from developing operational concepts all the way through acquisition, program definition and engineering analysis. As our honest brokers go into our customers' environments we try to understand their requirements. In so doing we have developed a product that provides a means by which our customers can sort, protect, elect and distribute in a secure manner their information and their data.

What do you think your employees would say were the best reasons for working at your company?

Kraft: I am a retired naval officer and coming to CSCI I can still work in an environment where I feel I'm making a contribution to the country and to the company. In addition, I have found that CSCI has just the best people to work for and work with.

Sheedy: Most of the employees in the company find they're able to find work that's meaningful to them. There's a lot of opportunity within CSCI.

Who owns your company?

LaRoche: It's a corporation that's owned by myself, with the majority percentage, and by Joe Link, our president.

What sense of stability can your company offer job candidates?

LaRoche: We've been in business for 18 years. We maintain a very high level of active contracts that still have a life span of at least five years.

What are the demographics of your company?

LaRoche: Company-wide we're 26 percent female and 22 percent minority. Within the 12-person executive management team, we are 33 percent female and 17 percent minority.

What positions do you have available and what level of expertise do you want?

LaRoche: We're looking for a configuration manager with six years of experience, a senior Java software engineer with three years of experience, a security IT coordinator with three to six years of experience, a security IT specialist with six to 12 years of experience, and a software engineer with one year of experience.
