CC Pace plans to hire about 40 people now. Mike Gordon, chief executive and owner, talked with The Post's Andrea Caumont.
QWhat does your company do?
AWe're in the consulting business. Companies bring us in to help solve their needs related to either generating new revenues or operating more efficiently. Most of what they're looking for is technology-related. We consult on everything from their technology strategy to implementing business applications. Some companies need people with specific skills to augment their project team. Most of our customers are in the financial-services sector, including the mortgage, capital markets and banking industries.
What do you think your employees would say were the best reasons for working at your company?
First, it's a positive work environment. There's a lot of integrity within the company. Only promise what we can do and don't promise things that we can't do. I think we give people a good work-life balance. We also want to have fun. We have a pool table and a foosball table. Employees vote on what they want to do for fun, whether its a wine trip or sponsoring a softball team. Second is the quality of the people. Quality breeds quality. We've been able to attract some very good people.
Who owns your company?
I own 100 percent. I've put in place a stock appreciation rights program so that the majority of people within the company have a stake in whether or not we're successful.
What sense of stability can your company offer job candidates?
We've been in business for 25 years. We're 100 percent debt-free. We've got many people who have been here 10 years or longer. Unlike anyone else I know, we've never had any consulting layoffs in our 25-year history.
What are the demographics of your company?
Companywide, we're 50 percent female and 15 percent minority. Within the eight-person senior management team, we're 63 percent female and there are no minorities.
What positions do you have available, and what level of expertise do you want?
We're looking for eight agile coaches with one year of experience. We're also hiring seven business analysts, nine project managers, eight business systems analysts and seven Java developers, all with three or more years of experience.
