RIM Asks High Court to Block Patent Ruling

Research in Motion asked Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. to block a ruling that might lead to a shutdown of its BlackBerry e-mail service.

The company is seeking to prevent the case from returning to the judge who presided over a 2002 trial in which Arlington-based NTP accused RIM of patent infringement.

"The threat alone of this injunction causes significant harm," Research in Motion argued.

Suit Alleges Design Defect in IPod Nano

Apple Computer was sued on allegations that its iPod Nano has a design defect. The class-action suit, filed in U.S. District Court in San Jose, claims the Nano's screen gets scratched with normal use.
