Apptix plans to hire about nine people by the end of the year. Samir Gulati, vice president of marketing, and Linda White, human resources director, talked with The Post's Andrea Caumont.

QWhat does your company do?

AGulati: We are a premier provider of on-demand messaging and collaboration solutions targeted to the small and medium-size business markets. These companies have no IT staff and so are looking to implement out-of-the-box, easily maintainable solutions. We have about 40,000 end users and 3,500 customers.

What do you think your employees would say were the best reasons for working at your company?

Gulati: We've had a new chief executive come on board over the spring, and he's brought a lot of focus to the company's strategy. . . . I think that the market is ripe. We're seeing a lot of interest among small and medium-size businesses to outsource their messaging or e-mail solutions. The market really seems to be taking off, and that's reflected in our growth.

Who owns your company?

Gulati: We are publicly traded on the Norway stock exchange in Oslo under the ticker APP. We were a spinoff of a European company called Telecomputing. We spun off in 2002 but retained our listing in Norway.

What sense of stability can your company offer job candidates?

Gulati: A few things. We've had a long history of growth, and that's always good to see in a company that's building its financial performance. Our revenue stream is recurring so there is much more predictability in our financial performance. Most employees understand that and can see it's not a traditional software business that's up one quarter and down another.

What are the demographics of your company?

White: On our seven-person senior management team there are no women and three minorities. Company-wide, we're 28 percent female and 44 percent minority.

What positions do you have available and what level of expertise do you want?

White: We're looking for three operation technicians, three technical-support technicians, two project managers and one channel sales manager. All positions are mid-level, requiring at least five years of experience.
