Cybertrust of Herndon agreed to sell the technology, customer contracts and other assets of its IntelliShield Alert Manager to Cisco Systems of San Jose for $14 million. IntelliShield Alert Manager is a Web-based intelligence service that provides companies with daily updates on information-technology security threats.

Black Data Processing Associates, a professional organization with 54 chapters internationally, started a chapter in Northern Virginia to help provide opportunities for information-technology professionals. Freddie Mac, the founding sponsor, is to hold the first meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the McLean headquarters of Freddie Mac, the founding sponsor. A mini-job fair that begins at 4 p.m. precedes the meeting.

EADS North America of Arlington, a division of the European defense and aerospace company EADS, acquired Talon Instruments, a California company that makes instruments to test the digital equipment on aircraft, weapons and other systems. Terms were not disclosed.

NaviScan PET Systems, which makes medical scanners that can capture images of small body parts, has moved its headquarters to San Diego from Rockville. Chief executive Paul Grayson said in a statement that the company moved partly because "San Diego County possesses an enormously talented labor pool within the Life Science and high technology arena." Its primary funder, Sanderling Ventures, is also based in California.

CoStar Group of Bethesda, which provides information to the commercial real estate industry, launched a listing service of for-sale commercial properties. Unlike CoStar's other research products, the $19.95-per-month service is available to individual brokers and investors.
