Mr. and Mrs. David Fuller of Hyattsville, Md, announce the engagement of their daughter, Linda Jo to Dr. G. Maurice Turner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe H. Turner of Tulsa, Okla.
Ms. Fuller graduated as salutatorian from Central High School in Seat Pleasant and was the first Black to win the title of Miss Teenage America-Metropolitan Washington. During the next two years she was a semi-finalist in the Miss Black America Washington Pageant. She took a B.S. in biology from Syracuse University, served as captain of the varsity cheerleaders, and was a charter member of Iota Upsilon chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. An Ensign with the U.S. Naval Reserve, the future bride holds a U.S. Naval Medical scholarship. Dr. Turner accepted an athletic scholarship from the UNiversity of Tulsa and as a member of the Dean's Honor Roll completed premedical training in three years.
The 23 year old couple met while attending the Oklahoma College of Medicine and Surgery in Tulsa where they will continue studies after their marriage. The wedding will take place at half past ten on the morning of June 26 at the Brookside Botanical Gardens in Wheaton.
