Old Towne, Alexandria - Denise Love and Claude D. Alexander were married in a double ring ceremony by the Rev. James Justin Cunningham, OP, at St. Mary's Church on July 15. A reception at Gadsby's Tavern followed.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Love of Springsfield and granddaughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Thomas J. Byrne of Alexandria, was given in marriage by her father. Her gown was of Alencon lace and silk georgette with scattered appliques edged in silk venise lace complemented by a mantilla veil trimmed with matching lace, and she carried phalenopsis, stephanotis and varlegated foliage. Her sister, Mrs. Lois L. Donohoe of Dublin, Ireland, as matron of honor, and the bridesmaids: Mrs. Diane Bateman, Mrs. Linda Sexton, and Scottye Hedstrom, were gowned in fitted white voile over blue georgette with shoulder ruffles of cluny lace. Duane Alexander was his brother's best man with capt. Lonnie Adams III, the Rev. Larry Alexander, and Bill Wohlford, as the groomsmen.
A graduate of Marymount in Richmond, Mrs. Alexander received her degree from the College of William and Mary, and is now a hearing clerk for the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry. Mr. Alexander is a graduate of West Point with a masters from Columbia University. He was formerly legislative aide for Senate Robert Dole, and he is the son of Arthur Alexander of Ulysses, Kaa. and the late Susie Dean Alexander.
The couple are at home in McLean following a wedding trip to the Homestead, Warm Springs, Va.
