Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Goldberg of West Hartford, Conn. are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Eileen Margaret to Edward Nestor Maurer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ely Maurer of Silver Spring, Md.
The bride-to-be received her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and her master's degree from Columbia University, School of International Affairs, where she concentrated in international economics. Ms. Goldberg is presently employed as an economist with the Health Systems Agency of Northern Virginia.
The future groom received his bachelor's degree with honors from Yale University and his law degree from Columbia University, where he served as an editor of the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law. After a clership with Judge Irving A. Levine of the Maryland Court of Appeals, Mr. Maurer is now an attorney with Taacor Jitco, a management consulting firm in Rockville, Md.
Mr. Maurer's father is an assistant legal adviser in the U.S. Department of State in Washington. The future groom's mother, Lucille Maurer, is in her third term as delegate in the Maryland Legislature and is vice-chairman of the Montgomery County delegation there. The future groom is a grandson of Joseph J. Darvin, formerly of Rockland County, N.Y. Mr. Darlic Chemical Corporation of New York City.
A September wedding is planned.
