A service of Holy Communion and lessons celebrated the marriage of Harriet Sue Hutson and Jay patrick Gray at The Falls Church (Episcopal), Falls Church, Va., on August 26. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and mrs. Harrison Darden Hutson of Fairfax, Va., and the groom is the son of mr. and Mrs. Dale Eugene Gray of Houston, Texas. The Rev. Murray Lee Newman Jr., professor of Old Testament at The Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia, officiated. An evening reception was held at the home of the bride following the ceremony.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sister, Carolyn Courtney Hutson as maid of honor, and kate Jordan, Deborah Hughes, Barbara Geyer, and Barbara Faulkner as bridesmaids. The best man was John Gunn, and groomsmen were Darden Hutson, Geoffrey Hutson, Denver Griffith, Frederick Buechner and Stephen Geist.
The bride was presented at The Arlington Cotillion Holly Ball in 1971. She received her bachelor's degree in classical studies from Dickinson College, Carlisle , Pa., and is presently studying at The Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia for the degree of master in theological studies.
The groom received his bachelor of arts degree in English literature from The University of St. Thomas in Houston. He was a Winant Fellow in Manchester, England during his undergraduate studies. Mr. Gray is a postulant for Holy Orders from the Episcopal Diocese of Texas in The Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America and is studying for the degree of master in divinity at The Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia.
Mr. and Mrs. Gray are at home in Alexandria.
