Karen Adele Brown, daughter of Herbert S. Browne and Mrs. Mildred W. Browne, both of Arlington, and Randy Harris Thayer, son of Mrs. Robert H. Thayer of Earlsville, Ill. and the Late Mr. Thayer, were united in marriage on July 2 by the Rev. James Athearm at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, where a reception followed.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a chiffon and lace ivory gown and carried a nosegay of white sweetheart roses, stephanotis, blue delphinium, springeri, and baby's breath and she had matching flowers in her hair. Tina Whitaker of Arlington was maid of honor. Wayne Anderson of Naperville, Ill. the best man and the ushers were Stuart Browne, the bride's brother, Robert H. and Ronald H. Thayer, the groom's brothers.
The mother of the bride was in ice blue and the groom's mother wore windsor rose.

Mrs. Thayer is a 1972 graduate of Washington and Lee High School and Mr. Thayer received his BBA degree from Southern Methodist University (Tex.) in 1976. The couple will reside in Arlington, Va.
