Eugenia Frances Welch, daughter of Mrs. William Calvin Welch of Alexandria and the late Mr. Welch, and Douglas Lamar Roberts, son of the Rev. Walter Douglas Roberts of Flat Rock, N.C. and the late Mrs. Roberts, were married last Saturday evening. The bridal couple were presented by their parents in a candlelit service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Alexandria, with the Rev. John Von Hemert performing the ceremony assisted by the Rev. William Sydnor.
The bride, escorted by her brother-in-law, Page Williams, wore a white organza dress with a tiered hoop skirt and train. Her bouquet was an arrangement of white roses intermixed with silk sweet peas and fresh flowers of pink, purple and green.
The mother of the bride, Frankie Welch, designed her gown which was of a silk purple fabric with a matching scarf of green and magenta. In attendance were seven bridesmaids wearing emerald green accordion pleated gowns with chiffon jackets.
Peggy Williams of Charlottesville, Va., the bride's sister, was matron of honor and Thomas Martin of Spartanburg, S.C. was the groom's best man.
The couple will reside in Alexandria. Mr. Roberts will continue as a budget analyst with the National Labor Relations Board and Mrs. Roberts as the buyer for Frankie Welch of Virginia, Inc.
