Elizabeth Rose Costello and Lawrence Michael Macken were united in mariage on May 19 at St. John the Evangelist Old Church in Silver Spring, with Rev. Msgr. Louis W. Albert officiating at the double ring ceremony and celebrating the Nuptial Mass. An afternoon reception followed at Carmack's in Chevy Chase.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eugene Costello of Silver Spring, the bride was attended by her sister, Catherine Costello of San Francisco; Ellen Robinson of Bethesda; and the groom's sister, Mrs. Candace Mochan of Waldorf, Md. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Macken of Bethelpark, Pa. He was attended by his brother, Kevin Macken of Carnegie, Pa; Neal Rambert of Philadelphia; and the bride's brother, Robert Michael Costello of Berwyn Heights, Md.
The bride wore the apricot satin gown with fitted bodice, full skirt, and chapel length train worn by her mother. The medalions of padded Irish lace which outline the sheer yoke of the jewel neckline gown and accent the illusion veil, also adorned the wedding gowns of the bride's maternal grandmother and great grandmother.
A graduate of Catholic University's Columbus School of Law, the bride is a member of the Maryland Bar. The groom, a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, is an entymologist with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Following a honeymoon in Canada, the Mackens will live in Silver Spring.
