At noon on June 9, Elizabeth Susananna Meid and Scott Ian Efland were joined in marriage by the Reverend Kenneth Torquil MacLean at Cedar Lane Unitarian Church in Bethesda, Md.The bride is the daughter of Mrs. G. Donald Meid of Chevy Chase, Md. and the late Mr. Meid, former business manager of the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Efland of Hong Kong.

The bride was escorted down the aisle of her brother John of Albany, N.Y., and was attended by Jennifer Kidney of Stillwater, Okla. as maid of honor. Best man was the groom's brother Kenneth of Miami, Fla. Serving as ushers were the bride's cousin, Meid Compton of Carmel, Ind. and the groom's uncle, John Mandel of Allentown, Pa. Following the ceremony, the wedding was celebrated with a reception at the Comus Inn near Comus, Md.

Ms. Meid received the doctor of philosophy degree in clinical psychology from Yale University and currently works in the Developmental Disabilities Clinic at Children's Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and at the Northern Virginia Psychotherapy Center in McLean, Va. Mr. Efland received the master of social work degree from Catholic University and is employed by the Family and Child Development Services in Woodbridge and Manassas, Va. Following a honeymoon in Bermuda, the couple will reside in Arlington.
