Santa Helen DeCosta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Gray of Jacksonville, Fla., became the bride of James Snatcher Thompson, son of Blondell Thompson, Memphis, Tenn., and James Thompson, Chicago, Ill., on Saturday, June 16 at Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church. The candlight cermony was blessed by the Rev. Naman Yarber with a reception following at the Jacksonville Hilton. The bride's sister, Mrs. Sharon Setzler was matron of honor with Donna Weens of Washington, D.C. as maid of honor. Best man was Ed Taylor with the groom's elder brother, Charles Thompson as groomsman, both of Memphis.
Mrs. Thompson attended Floride A&M University in Tallahassee. Crowned Miss FAMU 1973-74, she earned a BS in pharmacy. She is a manager -- pharmacist with Peoples Drug Stores, Inc. in Alexandria, Va. Mr. Thompson attended Memphis State University and until 1975 had held a career record for receptions and yardage on MSU'S Tiger football team. He played professionally with the Charlotte hornets of he now defunct World Football League, was a member of the Washington Redskin, and is now a wide receiver on the active roster of the NFL New York Giants.
