Sharon Ann Coyle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Richard Coyle of McLean, Va., wed Joseph Mortimer Kiernan III, son of Mrs. Joseph MORTIMER Kiernan Jr. of Arlington, and the late Lt. Col. Kiernan, USA, on July 7. Canon Charles Martin, assisted by Rev. Brocard Connors, officiated at the candlelit ceremony in St. Mary's Chapel, National Cathedral, where the groom's parents were married 24 years ago. The reception and dinner followed at Kenwood Country Club.
The bride wore her mother's wedding gown of chantilly lace and pearls over satin with a cathedral train and a veil of silk illusion attached to a wreath of orange blossoms. She carried her maternal grandmother's prayerbook. Ann Marie Ahmed was her cousin's maid of honor with Alison Ahmed, Carol Relihan, Jane Soyster, and Linda Van Waes, as the bridesmaids. Thomas Kiernan, the groom's brother, was best man while John Coyle, brother of the bride, David Crowe, Jeffrey Stanton, and Larry Wu, as ushers.
The bride, an alumna of the Madeira School and a cum laude graduate from William College, is a medical student at the Medical College of Virginia. Her father is a Washington attorney with the firm of Ogden & Coyle. The groom, an alummus of St. Alban's School, graduated magna cum laude from William College. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, he is a medical student at the University of Virginia. After a honeymoon trip to the Cloister, Sea Island, Ga., the couple will resume their medical studies.
