The Phobia Program of Washington -- Dr. Robert DuPont's program deals with phobias of all kinds, from fear of bridges to fear of fear. Fearful flyers are encouraged to attend 10 groups sessions, in addition to taking a flight with a therapist. Cost is $60 for an initial diagnostic interview with a psychiatrist and $350 for 10 group meetings. Costs for the flight range from about $160 to $330. Fly Without Fear -- This New York-based group, claiming to be "the granddaddy" of fearful-flying programs, was begun 10 years ago by a former avio-phobe. Group meetings are held weekly at either New York's JFK or La Guardia airports, and most people are ready for a graduation flight after 8 to 10 sesions. Cost is $5 for membership and $15 per meeting.
