Mrs. John Roland Wood announces the engagement of her daughter, Lynda Yvonne Morris of Washington, D.C., to Reginald Leonard Thomas, son of Mrs. Wanda Goodwin Thomas and the late Mr. Leonard Thomas of Lexington, Kentucky and Chicago, Illinois.

Miss Morris, an alumna of the Sidwell Friends School, graduated from Wellesley College in 1977 with a major in Urban Studies. She is currently a research assistant with the Council of the District of Columbia. Miss Morris, daughter of Mr. Robert Morris of Atlanta, is the granddaughter of the late Dr. Thomas C. Smith and the late Mrs. Birdie C. Smith of Washington, D.C. Her mother, a curriculum specialist in media for the District of Columbia Public Schools, is a member of the Council of the American Library Association and national legislative chairperson for the American Association of School Librarians. The future bride is the niece of Mrs. Mathilde Smith Gray and Miss Therrell C. Smith of this city, and of Mrs. J. Melva Smith Brown of Minneapolis and Mrs. Marion Smith Haynes of Baltimore.

Mr. Thomas, a cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College, class of 1975, is a graduate of Harvard University Law School, class of 1978. He is an attorney with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, Washington, D.C. A May wedding is planned.
