Dr. and Mrs. Randal McGavock Robertson of Blackburg, Va. have announced the engagement of their daughter, Elspeth Jean, to Sutherland Randolph Blakeman II, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Southerland Randolph Blackman Jr. of Cleveland, Miss. A June wedding is planned.

Miss Robertson is an alumna of St. Margaret's School (Va.), Sullins College, and Maryville College (Tenn.) where she received a VA in music. She is working for a master of library science at the Peabody College of Vanderbit University and has studied for six summers at the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina. Her father, formerly an Associate Director of the National Science Foundation in this city, is Dean of Research Emeritus of Virginai Polytechnic Institute. Grandparents of the bride-to-be are the late Dr. and Mrs. Holcombe McGavock Robertson of Warrenton, Va. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Alexander Dunbar of Pittsfield, Mass; she is the niece of Miss Virginia Keith Robertson of Warrenton and Washington, D.C., and the sister of Mrs. John Chalmers of Arlington.

Her fiance holds a bachelor of music from Belhaven College (miss.) and the master of library science from George Peabody College for Teachers of Nashville, Tenn. He is Director of the Humphries County Library System in Belzoni, Miss.
