Ruth Ann Patricia Poe, daughter of Ruth Poe of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Albert Poe of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, was married last Saturday morning, February 9 to Henry Brazell King of Washington, D.C. and Spring Lake, N.J. The Rev. Father Francis A. Crine, pastor of St. James Church in Woodbridge, N.J., officiated at the Nuptial Mass at St. Catharine's Church in Spring Lake. Assisting was the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John E. Grimes, pastor of St. Catharine's. A reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Crowley of Shrewsbury, N.J.
Mrs. King's floor-length chiffon wedding dress had an over-blouse of lace. Her headpiece of silk flowers and pearls held a fingertip veil, and she carried a bouquet of white tea roses and ivy. Her sister, Mrs. John Holleran of Spring Lake, was matron of honor, her other sister, Mrs. Geoffrey De'Ath of Ft. Lauderdale; Bibiana King, this city, daughter of the groom, and Kelly Holleran, Spring Lake Heights, niece of the bride, were bridesmaids. Michael King, this city, was his father's best man with his other son, Matthew King, Larchmont, N.Y., John Crowley Jr., Shrewsbury, cousin of the bride and her nephew, John Holleran Jr., Spring Lake, ushering.
Lectors were Mrs. Henry King Jr., daughter-in-law of the groom, and Allan Rubin, of this city. Jeffery Holleran, the bride's nephew, and Jeffrey King, the groom's grandson, were altar boys with Mrs. John Crowley, Shrewsbury, the bride's aunt; Mrs. John King, the groom's daughter-in-law, and John Holleran Sr., both of Spring Lake, and Kevin King, Kensington, Md., grandson of the groom, the gift bearers.
Mrs. King is a graduate of Greenbriar College and was employed as a systems analyst with Perkin-Elmer, corporation, Oceanport, N.J. She is the graddaughter of the late Leon Barkhon, an industrialist from Newark, N.J. Mr. King is the president of the United States Brewers Association and served in World War II as a Navy lieutenant earning 13 combat decorations including the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He is the direct descendant of John Guild one of the founders in 1636 of Dedham, Mass. He is the father of fifteen children by his first wife, the late Ottilie Sandrock. Mr. King holds a BBA from Manhattan College, an MBA from Pace University, an LLB from New York Law School and DHL (honorary) degree from Mercy College.
Following a wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple will reside in Washington, D.C. and Spring Lake.
