Mr. and Mrs. Frederic Burford Allen of Houston, Tx. and Rehoboth, Del. have announced the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Stewart, to John Henry Dodderidge, son of Mr. Robert R. Dodderidge of Myrtle Hall Farm, Bluemont, Va., formerly of Locust Valley, Long Island, and the late Mrs. Dodderidge.

Miss Allen was graduated from The Kent Place School in Summit, N.J., Pine Manor College, Chestnut Hill, Mass. and studied in France at the Surbonne. Shw owns an ice cream manufacturing and cheese business in Rehoboth and teaches skiing in Aspen, Col. Her father is an executive of Mellon Energy Companies, a nationwide petroleum marketing corporation, of Houston. She is the granddaughter of the Honorable S. Ralph Warnken, retired judge of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore and the late Mrs. Warnken, also of Mrs. Jesse Wilson Allen and the late Mr. Allen of Rehoboth, Del. She is a direct descendent of The Right Honorable John F. Burgoyne, British General of Revolutionary and literary fame.

Mr. Dodderidge was graduated from St. Pauls School, Concord, N.H. and the University of Virginia. He is an account executive with Travel Resources, Inc. in Washington, D.C. His father is an owner and breeder of race horses. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Dodderidge; Mrs. Helen Dean Dodderidge was Chief of Consumer Services in the Marketing Division of the Department of Agriculture and a well-known journalist. He is grandson also of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sidney A. Mitchell of Locust Valley, L.I. Mr. Mitchell, an investment banker, was president of Bonnbright and Company and the recipient of the French Legion of Honor for his part as Chief of the International Federation of French Alliances.

An October wedding is planned.
