Anne Doane Aylward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Aylward of Washington, D.C. and New Lebanon, N.Y., was married Saturday, July 5 to Thomas Dade Spofford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren R. Spofford of Santa Monica, Cal. The Rev. Norman Faramelli performed the ceremony in the Church of Our Saviour, Lebanon Springs, N.Y. The bride wore an ivory satin gown and her great-grandmother's Brussels lace veil. Bonnie Nutt-Powell was matron of honor and the best man was Thomas Clough.
Mrs. Spofford graduated from Taipei American School and Radcliffe College and received a master's in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is a planner with the Massachusetts Port Authority in Boston and will retain her maiden name professionally. Her father, a retired Foreign Service officer, is Executive Director of the National Council for International Visitors.
The groom is a graduate of Columbia University with a master's degree in city planning from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a consultant in transportation and urban development. His father is an account executive in southern California for the Norton Company.
The reception was held at Murdock House, the family home where the Aylwards plan to retire next summer. After a wedding trip the couple will reside in the Boston area.
