Kate Ellen Armstrong, daughter of Brig Gen. (USA ret.) and Mrs. DeWitt C. Armstrong, III, of Alexandria was married August 30 to William Wiley Alston Jr., son of Mrs. William W. Alston of Malvern, Pa., and the late Mr. Alston, in Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Alexandria. The Rev. Stanton Ramsey officiated at the afternoon ceremony which was followed by a reception at the Army Navy Country Club.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Pamela Wiggins of Atlanta as maid of honor and Cynthia Cairns of Ligonier, Pa., and Marguerite Malakoff of Geneva, Switzerland, bridesmaids. George G. Alston was best man for his brother; groomsmen were Walter McKay and DeWitt C. Armstrong, IV, brother of the bride. Assisting as ushers at the church were Capt. William A. Knowlton Jr. and Lawrence D. Howell II.
An engineer with Metcalf and Eddy, the bride is a graduate of Concord Academy, Tufts University (BSCE), and recently completed master's work in environmental engineering at Stanford University. She is the granddaughter of the late Brig. Gen. and Mrs. Clare H. Armstrong, and of Col. Charles S. Johnson of Alexandria and the late Mrs. Johnson. Mr. Alston took bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering at Tufts University and is with Raychem. They will live in Palo Alto, Calif.
