The National Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. was the setting last Saturday for the marriage of Barbara Nell Fouch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Fouch of Bethesda, Md., to William Edward Briggs, III, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Briggs, Jr. of Glen Echo, Md. and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Briggs, Sr. of Farnham, Va. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dr. Louis H. Evans, Jr. and followed by a reception held in the ballroom of the Mayflower Hotel.

Carolina Macia Matthews was matron of honor; the bridesmaids were Stephanie Saunders Fouch, sister-in-law of the bride, Christine Nonnemacher, Lisa Neff, all of Bethesda; Mary Kuns Shelton, Gainesville, Fla. and Ava Deal, cousin of the groom, Richmond, Va. Mr. Briggs, Jr., was his son's best man; the ushers were Gregory Fouch, Bethesda, Roger Fouch, Atlanta, brothers of the bride; Steven Deal, Richmond; Matthew Ginalick, Jr. and Stephen Williams, both of this area.

The bride, a graduate of the Walt Whitman High School, Bethesda, received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Maryland. She is an account representative with Arthur Diamond Associates, Inc. in Chevy Chase. Her father, who is now retired, was formerly marketing consultant for the General Electric Company in New York and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense.

The groom, also a graduate of Walt Whitman High School, is majoring in business administration at the University of Maryland and is associated with McGlynn Electric, Inc.

After a wedding trip to the Carribbean, the couple will reside in their home in Rockville, Md.
