Lt. Col. (USA ret.) and Mrs. Paul G. Feduska of Falls Church, Va., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Ann, to Robert Frederick Walter, Capt. USAF, son of Mrs. Charles F. Walter of Conyngham, Pa. and the late Mr. Walter.
Miss Feduska, who traveled in the military with her parents, received both a BS in education and anthropology in 1972 and a master's in outdoor recreation from the University of New Mexico. She served two years in Colombia, South America with the Peace Corps, is an experienced mountain climber who was one of the first women instructors in the Outward Bound School, and also taught the art of survival on the Northern Elks in Colorado. Miss Feduska is with the Department o Interior, Heritage Conservation and Recreation Service in Albuquerque, N.M.
Capt. Walter took a BS in aeronautics and astronautics in 1972 from the Massachusette Institute of Technology where his work in the field of nuclear rocket systems analysis led to an MS and in 1978 he also received the doctor of philosophy there. He is the recipient of the Luis de Florez Award, the Clapp and Poliak Scholarship and the James Means Memorial Prize for work in space systems engineering and design and received the General James Doolittel Award as the 1974 outstanding Air Force ROTC graduate at MIT. He is now stationed at Kirland A.F. Base in Albuquerque. An early May wedding is planned.
