Mr. and Mrs. Carleton Putnam wish to announce the marriage of their daughter, Esther Louise Claiborne, to John Nicholson Stoner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank R. Stoner, III, of Sewickley, Pa. on March 28th at the Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church in Chevy Chase Mr. The Rev. Orville Chadsey officiated, assisted by the Rev. Joseph Hadley of Denver, Col. A reception followed at the Cosmos Club.
Elizabeth Brown and Leslie Morton were maids-of-honor; the bride's two half-sisters, Mrs. William Lilley and Mrs. Eliot Wadsworth, II, were attendants along with Mrs. Michael Goswell, the groom's sister, Elizabeth Turner, Lisa Lewis and Janice Schuler. Frank R. Stoner, IV, served as best man and the ushers were Michael Goswell, Michael Cernik, John Van Sant, Edwin Leidholdt, David Wheatley, Lawrence Howell, II, and Yon Yakobian. Eliot A. Wadsworth was ring bearer.
Mrs. Stoner, a graduate of St. Timothy's School (Md.), and Mr. Stoner, of The Sewickley Academy, werre graduated from the University of Virginia. She is an art coordinator for Mobil Oil Corp. in Fairfax. Mr. Stoner is president of Soltec, Inc. in Charlottesville, Va., where the couple will reside.
Mrs. Stoner is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Israel Putnam of New York City and Saratoga, N.Y. and of Mrs. Westmore Wilcox of McLean, Va., formerly of New York and the late Mr. Wilcox.
Mr. Stoner's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William A. Sutherland of Atlanta, Ga. and Washington, D.C. and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank R. Stoner, Jr. of Sewickley, Pa.
