Brig. Gen. (USAF ret.) and Mrs. Harold Richard Johnson of Potomac, Md. announce with pleasure the engagement of their daughter, Candace Maria, to His Excellency Adrien F. Meisch, Ambassador of Luxembourg, son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Aloyse Meisch of Luxembourg.
Miss Johnson is currently Director of Marketing for Parkway Productions, Inc., the nation's largest classical music radio syndicator. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington and is President of the D.C. Federation of Music Clubs. A member of the National Press Club, Miss Johnson is Director of the 1981 International Children's Festival at Wolf Trap. Miss Johnson earned her BA from Vassar College and holds two master's degrees from the Sorbonne, Paris, France and Stanford University. She is presently completing her PhD in musicology at the University of Maryland.
His Excellency, Adrien F. Meisch, is Ambassador of Luxembourg to the United States of America, Mexico and Canada. Prior to his arrival in 1974, Ambassador Meisch was accredited to the Soviet Union, Poland and Finland. He had represented his country at the United Nations, the European Communities and NATO, and has served his government as the Director of Political Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Meisch holds a JD from the Faculte de Droit at the University of Paris and earned his PhD degree in history from Oxford University. In addition to his diplomatic duties, he is a well-known concert pianist who has performed in solo recitals and with numerous symphonic and chamber music ensembles in Europe, the USSR, and the USA.
A family wedding is planned on June 11.
