Mr. and Mrs. William H. Howard of Kensington announce the marriage of their daughter, Mary Catherine, to Peter Anthony Conto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter L. Conto of Mitchellville, Md. The ceremony, at which the Rev. John Edward Dyer officiated, took place on May 16 at The Navy Chapel, Naval Security Station in Washington, D.C., and the reception followed at the Chevy Chase Club.
The bride was escorted by her father attended by Mrs. Roderick E. MacKinnon as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Joseph J. Hoey of New York City, Mrs. Theodore J. Adomanis, and Joan O'Connor. Frank V. Conto served his brother as best man and another brother, Michael J. Conto, Mr. MacKinnon, Mr. Adomanis and the brothers of the bride, William H., Jr. and Richard D. Howard, were ushers.
Mrs. Conto is an eighth generation Washington, but also a descendant of the Howard family of Maryland. One of her ancestors is John Cassin, a Navy Commodore during the American Revolution and the father of Stephen Cassin, a Naval hero during the war of 1812, who received a land grant in Georgetown for his services during that war.
The former Miss Howard is the granddaughter of one-time president of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Companies, the late Albert E. Berry and Mrs. Berry, as well as Mr. and Mrs. J. Cassin Howard, all of Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Conto is association with Booz-Allen & Hamiltion, Inc. and her husband is vice-presidnet of the Edward W. Minte Company. They are making their home in Rockville.
