Penelope Elizabeth Oliver and Edward Trafford Stettinius were married last Saturday, August 1 in a ceremony performed by the Rev. Edward S. Donahue, SJ, in the Chapel of the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, La. A reception followed at the New Orleans Lawn Tennis Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Earl Oliver, Jr. of Houston, Tx. and formerly of New Orleans. Mr. Stettinius is the son of Mrs. Peter Smith of Oyster Bay, N.Y. and Mr. Edward Reilly Stettinius of Middleburg, Va.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a bridal peau de soie gown enhanced with schiffli lace and a chapel length veil trimmed in matching lace. She carried lilies of the valley and white roses. Patrica Clower Phillips of Houston, Tx., as maid of honor, wore a floor length apple green silk taffeta bustled with mauve, and she carried Dutch spring flowers. In mauve silk taffeta with apple green bustles were bridesmaids: Susan Oliver, Albuquerque, N.M., cousin of the bride; Catherine Hill Mengden, Comfort, Tx.; Robin Gay Smith, New Orleans, La.; Colleen Bridget Church, Houston; and Bonnie Bleakney, Amarillo, Tx.

The groom chose his father as best man and the groomsmen were John L. Koeing, Oyster Bay, N.Y.; Douglas William Gibson, Lancaster County, Pa.; Stuart Schwab, Oyster Bay, N.Y.; Henry G. Lingenfelder, Baltimore, Md., David J. Oliver and Master John E. Oliver, III, brothers of the bride.

After a wedding trip to Sea Island, Ga., the couple will reside in Columbia, Md. Mrs. Stettinius will finish her senior year at Mt. Vernon College and Mr. Stettinius will be with Atlantic & Gulf Stevedores, Inc.
