Cast members of "On Your Toes" O are wearing buttons that say: "Get (Frank) Rich Quick" around New York. The buttons were thought up by Betty Ann Grove, who plays Mrs. Dolan, in retaliation for Rich's blistering review in The New York Times. We are told the button has even been seen on the chest of a Timesperson. Critics just can't win . . .
The Ford's Theatre gala of last Sept. 25 is due to be televised locally April 15 on Channel 5. Metromedia (WTTG here) has scheduled the two-hour program, which stars Liza Minnelli, among others, for five other cities, with a possibility of two more . . .
The Shubert Organization, making moves to become more visible in the Washington community, has donated $25,000 for the decorations at the Corcoran Ball, a benefit for the Corcoran School. "We've made a long-term commitment to Washington and we wanted to identify with the Corcoran," said president Gerald Schoenfeld. Actually, it is the Shubert Foundation, which owns the organization, that is making the donation. Last year the foundation distributed $1.3 million to theater, dance and other cultural organizations, including grants to Arena Stage, the Folger, Ford's, and the Cultural Alliance. The Corcoran donation is the first they've made to a museum or school here.
