Oatlands Plantation will be the site of a country fair Sunday from 1 to 6 with balloon rides, tours, music and games. You can have a bird's-eye view of the 261-acre estate from a huge hot-air balloon or take a free stroll through the Oatlands mansion filled with French and American art and antiques. Jack Finchim and the Dixie Grass Band, Ben and Valli Cain and the Country Class and the Michael Mahone Duo will entertain and there'll be Scottish music and dances performed by the St. Andrew's Society. For the younger kids there'll be clowns, magicians, mimes and face-painting. You can also race a sack, dunk a celebrity, throw an egg or toss some rings. And don't worry about lunch because there's going to be a picnickers' delight set up, featuring American and international delectables. The American Red Cross will be there with mobile units to demonstrate CPR and other first-aid techniques. Tickets at the gate are $6 for adults and $3 for kids under 12; advance tickets are available at area Fotomat stores. There's free parking on the grounds. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross. To get there, take I-66 to U.S 50 west to Route 15, turn right and continue to Oatlands. Call 857-2001.
