The ninth annual festival of gay and lesbian film, "Reel Affirmations IX," is currently running a schedule of more than 60 screenings through Oct. 24 at the Lincoln Theatre, 1215 U St. NW, and the DC Jewish Community Center, 1529 16th St. NW. For the first time, the festival includes a special women'sprogram with brunch, screenings, live music by singer Deena Javor and the opportunity to meet such filmmakers as Rose Troche ("Go Fish").
"Coming Out All Over Again" starts with brunch on Sunday at 11:30 at the Festival Pavilion, located behind the Lincoln Theatre. It will be followed by a double feature on the Lincoln Theatre screen of "The Way We Were" at 1:30 (lesbian shorts from the '70s and '80s) and "Desert Hearts" at 3 (director Donna Deitch's 1985 romance about a divorcee and a card dealer). $15 tickets include brunch and admission to both screenings.
Advance tickets for individual screenings at either venue are available at the Lincoln Theatre box office or by calling Box Office Tickets (800/494-8497). Admission to most films is $8 (although some are free). Tickets may be purchased at the DCJCC box office only for same-day screenings at that location. A complete schedule is available at the Web site www.reelaffirmations.org.
