The International Arts and Crafts Fair will be held Nov. 16-18 at the World Bank, 600 19th St. NW from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. near the Farragut West Metro stop. (The public entrance is on G Street between 19th and 20th Streets.) The fair offers crafts from many African countries, China, Peru, Russia, Syria, Scandinavia and Thailand. In addition, Brazilian semi-precious stones, Bulgarian icons, Indonesian fabrics and art works, clothing and jewelry from around the world will be for sale. Calendars

The Alexandria Calendar 2000, produced by the Senior Citizens Employment and Services of Alexandria, is available for $7 at 121 N. St. Asaph St. The calendars feature pen and ink drawings of Old Town streets and historic buildings by Catherine Pierson DeCesare. Y2K Preparation

The American Red Cross, National Capital Chapter, will offer a presentation on preparing for possible disruptions arising from Y2K. Help the Homeless Walkathon

The first annual National Family Volunteer Day will be held Saturday, Nov. 20. The Volunteer Center of Fairfax County has selected Fannie Mae's Help the Homeless Walkathon as its project. Families are invited to volunteer for the 5K walk which starts at 10 a.m. at Freedom Plaza, on Pennsylvania Avenue between 13th and 14th streets NW. Mentors and Teachers

Experience Corps in Northwest is recruiting men over age 55 to serve as mentors for 12-year-old boys in the sixth grade at Birney Elementary School, 2501 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE.
