Teller of Tales
Storyteller Awele Makeba will hold audiences spellbound with stories based on ancient African folklore in "Teller of All Tales," Friday at 7, Saturday at 11 and 1 and Sunday at 1 at the Kennedy Center Theater Lab. Zany '60s cartoon characters take the stage in "Les Moose: The Operatic Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle," a children's production by the Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia, Saturday at 2 and 4:15 (limited availability for the later show). In commemoration of Black History Month, the Maryland Science Center is presenting "Follow the Drinking Gourd: Stars of Freedom," a planetarium show about how slaves used the stars to find their way to liberty, through Feb. 27. Shows are Monday through Friday at 2, Saturdays at 1, 2:30 and 4, and Sundays at 1 and 4. Admission, which includes the planetarium show, is $8.50, $7 for seniors and $5.50 for ages 4 to 12.
