An 18-year-old member of Chicago's wealthy Pritzker family, owners of the Hyatt hotel chain, sued her father and other family members claiming they drained her trust funds of more than $1 billion.

The suit was filed Tuesday by Liesel Pritzker, a budding actress who under the name Liesel Matthews played the title role in the Warner Bros. movie "The Little Princess" and also the role of the president's daughter in "Air Force One."

Assets belonging to her trust funds were sold off by her father, 76-year-old business executive Robert Pritzker, at below-market prices and transferred to trusts benefiting other family members, the lawsuit said.

Robert Pritzker said in a statement that "this is a family matter and we are not going to comment other than to say that it is sad when a daughter, who is a beneficiary of great family wealth and tremendous advantage, sues her father and other members of her family."

The suit asked a Cook County Circuit Court to force the family to make good the alleged losses and pay at least $5 billion in punitive damages as well.

The suit could pry open the finances a family that has long struggled to keep such matters private. The Pritzker fortune is estimated at more than $15 billion.
