As Good as It Gets
Oscar winner Helen Hunt is mad about motherhood, after giving birth to a daughter in Beverly Hills last week.
Makena lei Gordon Carnahan was born May 13, publicist Stephen Huvane, said yesterday. The child is Hunt's first with partner and TV producer Matthew Carnahan, 43. The actress, 40, delivered the baby several weeks early, but both the mother and her six-pound daughter are healthy.
The child takes her first name from a town on Maui and her middle name from Hunt's father, TV director Gordon Hunt.
Smells Like Diddy Spirit
What does Diddy smell like? Estee Lauder is willing to find out.
The cosmetics giant has announced plans to team up with Sean "P. Diddy" Combs to create a line of fragrances under the rapper's Sean John moniker.
"People express themselves in many ways -- through their music, through the way they dress, and also through the fragrance they choose, so deciding to make a fragrance was very natural for me," Combs said Thursday.
Let's hope it doesn't stink as bad as "Da Band."
Jeff Koons Gets a Legal Brushoff
Celebrity artist Jeff Koons has no choice but to pay $3.9 million in legal fees after telling his lawyers to "leave no stone unturned" in the custody battle over his young son with ex-wife and former European porn star turned politician, Ilona Staller.
New York State Supreme Court Justice Rolando Acosta rejected Koons's claim that the "gross excessiveness" of the fees made them illegal. The judge, whose ruling was made public Thursday, said the eye-popping price tag resulted from the artist's own "extravagance" in pursuing the case for six years.
Koons hired the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in 1993 to represent him in his divorce from Staller, who made X-rated films in Italy under the name La Cicciolina before becoming a member of Italy's parliament.
Following the divorce, Koons was given custody of the couple's then-infant son, Ludwig Koons.
A judge ordered that neither parent remove the child from New York state. But in June 1994 Staller evaded Koons's security guards and fled to Italy with the child. An Italian appeals court gave Staller custody of the couple's son in 1998.
